Google Achieves Quantum Computing Milestone: Outperforming Supercomputers

Abstract: In just 5 minutes, what would take current supercomputers ’10 to the power of 25′ years to compute is now completed! Major breakthrough announced by tech giant, earning praise from Musk and Altman. On December 10th, Google announced on its official website the latest advancements in quantum computing. Their computer, utilizing the new generation Willow quantum chip, outperformed the world’s fastest Frontier supercomputer when running a benchmark algorithm. Willow completed a standard benchmark calculation in less than 5 minutes, whereas the current fastest supercomputer would take 10^25 years (that is, 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 years), a figure that far exceeds the age of the universe.
